Project Description

ViO 3i0 is a bold and genre-defying trio that fuses contemporary jazz, electronic textures, and cinematic soundscapes into a highly immersive audiovisual performance. Led by saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Viktor Haraszti, the group explores the edges of improvisation, rhythm, and technology in a live setting that often includes real-time visual projections.

Their latest program, centered around the concept of ViOlogy, reflects on spiritual identity, emotional depth, and human connection in an increasingly digital age. The trio offers a powerful and flexible performance setup, adaptable to both intimate clubs and large scale venues open to audiovisual innovation.

CONCEPT & FORMAT

ViO 3iO is more than a trio—it's an evolving performance concept that blends sound, image, and narrative into one integrated artistic experience. The group’s innovative approach includes live generative visuals and interactive projection systems, allowing the audience to be enveloped in a multi-sensory world where the music is both seen and heard. Performances are flexible in format—ranging from pure concert settings to immersive multimedia showcases—and may feature guest artists or spoken word performers where fitting. The project adapts to the venue’s capabilities, with the trio able to bring their own projector system when needed. This concept transforms each concert into a unique event, offering more than a traditional jazz show.

ABOUT THE BAND

Based in the Netherlands, ViO 3iO brings together three internationally experienced musicians with deep roots in jazz, experimental music, and live production. Haraszti, originally from Hungary, is known for his expressive playing and integration of electronic manipulation into live performance. Horváth provides a grounded yet agile counterpoint on the bass, while Davis brings polyrhythmic energy and percussive storytelling to the trio’s unique sound. Together, they create a dynamic and emotionally engaging experience that pushes the boundaries of jazz and improvisational music.

REPERTOIRE

The full repertoire consists entirely of original compositions written by Viktor Haraszti, with several works co-arranged collaboratively by the trio. The music is cinematic, rhythmically diverse, and emotionally charged, with strong improvisational elements. Some lyrical pieces feature vocals and text, written and performed by Anthony Davis and Viktor Haraszti, adding a poetic and reflective layer to the music. Each piece serves as a chapter in an unfolding story that combines melody, groove, and exploration.
